Chiefs-Bucs Preseason Finale: When Starters Clock Out, Unders Cash In

Week 3 of the preseason is where dreams go to die and depth charts get finalized. The Chiefs roll into Tampa without Patrick Mahomes, handing the keys to Justin Fields for a glorified dress rehearsal before the real bullets fly. Baker Mayfield will get a couple series for the Bucs before Bruce Arians—wait, wrong year—before Todd Bowles wraps him in bubble wrap and sends him to the sideline.

Here's the thing: 37.5 is already a basement total, and it still feels too high. Kansas City managed a whopping 12 points against Rams backups last week. Tampa put up 24 against the Jets, but that was against a secondary that couldn't cover a picnic table. Once the starters exit stage left, you're watching third-stringers run dive plays into a wall for three quarters.

Preseason football is where offensive coordinators protect their good stuff and defenses play straight vanilla. No one's game-planning. No one's taking risks. It's a glorified scrimmage with ticket prices.

DarkHorse is riding the under 37.5 with solid confidence, and frankly, it's hard to argue. Unless someone's backup kicker goes nuclear from 50 yards out, this one stays sleepy. Grab the under, crack a beer, and enjoy the last dress rehearsal before football actually matters.
