Reds Look to Bounce Back With the Run Line After Wednesday's Drubbing

The Diamondbacks just boat-raced Cincinnati 9-0 on Wednesday, and now the market expects more of the same with Arizona sitting at -185. Fair enough—Michael Soroka is dealing (2.93 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) and Rhett Lowder is decidedly not (5.17 ERA, 1.49 WHIP). But here's the thing: even with that mismatch, the market is pricing Arizona to win by less than two runs more often than not. That's where the Reds +1.5 becomes interesting.
Cincinnati's lineup isn't rolling over for anyone. Sal Stewart (.81 OPS), Elly De La Cruz (.80 OPS), and JJ Bleday (.76 OPS) give them legitimate thump, and Lowder—hittable as he is—can keep them in striking distance if the bullpen holds. Arizona's offense outside Corbin Carroll (.83 OPS) and Nolan Arenado (.76 OPS) is pedestrian at best, with the rest of the projected lineup sitting in the .61-.69 OPS range. They've been middling lately too: 5-5 in their last ten, averaging just 4.8 runs over the past five.
Soroka should win this game, but blowouts require more than one elite arm. The Reds cover 60% historically as road underdogs on the run line, and that edge feels live here. Take Cincinnati +1.5 at moderate confidence and bank on competitive baseball.
