Red Sox Faceplant in Miami as DarkHorse Bet Goes Down 4-0

Well, that was embarrassing. The Red Sox strolled into Miami laying -160 as heavy favorites, riding a five-game win streak and armed with what we thought was a significant pitching edge. Instead, they got blanked 4-0 by a Marlins squad that apparently didn't read the scouting report.

Our pick hinged on Sonny Gray's 2.79 ERA dominance over Ryan Gusto's pedestrian 4.37 mark, plus Boston's superior lineup featuring Willson Contreras and his .92 OPS. Turns out none of that mattered. Gray either didn't show up or Miami's bats woke up at exactly the wrong time, while Boston's vaunted offense managed a grand total of zero runs against a pitcher we pegged as eminently hittable.

The Marlins did all their damage and shut the door, making our -160 investment look foolish in hindsight. Sometimes the team that dominated yesterday—Boston won 7-3 the night before—comes out flat the next day. Sometimes road back-to-backs bite harder than expected. And sometimes you lay juice on a team that forgets how to score.

This one's a clean miss. No excuses, no bad beats—just a shutout loss that never gave us a chance. Tip your cap to Miami and move on.
