Royals Steal One-Run Win, DarkHorse Cashes the Plus-1.5 Anyway

The Royals had no business winning this one on paper, but baseball doesn't care about your spreadsheets. Kansas City squeaked past San Francisco 5-4 in a game that perfectly illustrated why we grabbed the Royals +1.5 instead of backing the Giants outright. Sure, Landen Roupp was supposed to dominate Seth Lugo on the mound, and yes, the Giants lineup featuring Arraez and LuBob looked superior to a Witt-less Royals squad. But here's the thing: close games are coin flips, and we hedged accordingly.

The Royals found just enough offense to scratch across five runs against Roupp and the San Francisco bullpen, while Lugo and company bent but didn't break when it mattered. The Giants pushed four across but couldn't deliver the knockout punch, and that one-run margin was all we needed. Our pick hits comfortably, even though Kansas City pulled off the mild upset straight-up.

This is textbook runline discipline. We identified the Giants as the better team, saw the market agree, but took the cushion instead of laying juice on a road favorite in a toss-up spot. Bobby Witt Jr. watched from the IL while his squad got it done anyway. Sometimes the underdog barks loud enough to win, and sometimes they just need to keep it close. Either way, The Stable eats.
