Padres Look to Complete Sunday Sweep After Throttling Miami's Offense

The Padres rolled into Miami and made themselves right at home Saturday night, hanging seven runs on the Marlins in a dominant 7-2 victory that wasn't nearly as close as the final score suggests. DarkHorse got caught leaning the wrong way on that one, backing Miami at -134 in what turned into a thorough beatdown. Now San Diego smells blood in the water for the Sunday finale.

Miami's offense has gone ice cold at the worst possible time, managing just two runs against a Padres pitching staff that's suddenly found its groove in South Florida. The home nine looked lifeless through nine innings, and there's little reason to expect a miraculous turnaround less than 24 hours later. The Marlins are staring down the barrel of a series sweep on their own turf, which is never a good look when you're trying to stay relevant in a crowded playoff picture.

San Diego has all the momentum here, riding high after dismantling Miami's game plan from the first pitch. The bats are clicking, the arms are dealing, and they've got that swagger that comes from making the opposition look overmatched. Unless the Marlins find some magic in their Sunday morning coffee, this one could get ugly again. The Padres didn't fly cross-country to split a weekend series with a struggling club.
