The Yankees rolled into Target Field yesterday and put on a clinic, dismantling the Twins 8-3 as comfortable road favorites. DarkHorse nailed that one at -137, and now the question is whether the Bronx Bombers can keep their foot on the gas for the series finale.
Minnesota's pitching got shelled in the opener, and their bats went quiet when it mattered. That's been the story too often this September—good enough to hang around, not good enough to close. The Yankees, meanwhile, are playing October baseball in mid-September, clicking on all cylinders as they fine-tune for the postseason push. Their lineup is deep, their bullpen is locked in, and they're not letting up against a Twins squad that's already thinking about tee times.
The Twins need to salvage something here at home, but momentum is a hell of a drug, and New York's got all of it right now. Expect the Yankees to come out swinging again, looking to bury Minnesota early and coast to the sweep. DarkHorse hasn't weighed in on today's matchup yet, but if the price is right, backing the visitors to finish what they started makes plenty of sense. The Twins are reeling, and the Yankees smell blood.
