Pirates Ride Hot Streak Into Detroit as Pick'em Turns in Their Favor

The Pirates roll into Comerica Park on Friday night as a legitimate road favorite—well, sort of. The board says -110, which is essentially a coin flip, but Pittsburgh's recent body of work suggests they deserve the slight edge. The Bucs are scorching at 10-5 over their last fifteen and 7-3 in their last ten, while Detroit has cooled off considerably at 4-6 in their last ten games. Momentum matters in late September, and right now it's wearing black and gold.

Jackson Jobe takes the ball for the Tigers with a respectable 3.98 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, giving Detroit a modest pitching advantage over Pittsburgh's Bubba Chandler (4.34 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). But here's the rub: the Pirates have been the more consistent offensive unit lately, plating runs with regularity while Detroit's bats have sputtered. Pittsburgh also owns the season series 2-1, including a 4-3 victory back in August when DarkHorse nailed them at -130.

The Tigers have home cooking on their side, but the Pirates are 4-2 on the road this month and clearly comfortable playing in hostile territory. At a pick-em price, give me the team that's actually winning games. DarkHorse likes Pirates -110 with modest confidence (2/5)—a lean worth following when form meets value.
