The Giants roll back into Busch Stadium five days after snatching a 7-6 thriller from the Cardinals, handing DarkHorse's money line play on St. Louis an ugly miss. Now the question is whether San Francisco can bottle that magic again or if the Cardinals finally wake up at the plate and make the home crowd happy.
That September 9th shootout saw both offenses clicking, but it was the Giants who found the timely hits when it mattered. The Cardinals have been maddeningly inconsistent lately, and dropping a one-run game at home doesn't inspire confidence heading into another divisional scrap with playoff implications lurking. Meanwhile, the Giants are playing with house money—they've got nothing to lose and everything to prove down the stretch.
St. Louis needs to tighten up the bullpen after that late-inning meltdown last week. If they can't protect leads against a scrappy Giants squad, they're going to have a rough time when October rolls around. San Francisco, on the other hand, showed they can hang in a slugfest and aren't intimidated by the Cardinals' mystique.
DarkHorse hasn't weighed in yet on this one, so we're flying blind for now. But based on recent form, the Giants have the Cardinals' number. Don't be shocked if they steal another one in enemy territory.
