Rockies Look to Bounce Back After Heartbreaker in San Diego

The Rockies limp back into Petco Park less than 24 hours after watching an 8-7 nail-biter slip through their fingers. Colorado had DarkHorse's Rockies +1.5 ticket dancing all night before the Padres squeaked out the walk-off drama. That's baseball, but it stings when you're cashing winners on a team that can't seem to finish.

Now here's the rub: the Rockies are road warriors only in the sense that they keep showing up to get their lunch money taken. Away from Coors Field, they're a different animal—and not in a good way. San Diego, meanwhile, just proved they can win ugly at home, which is exactly the kind of momentum that crushes visiting clubs already reeling from a tough loss.

Colorado's pitching staff will need to show up with answers they didn't have yesterday. The Padres' lineup smells blood when opponents are emotionally drained, and that late-game heroics tend to carry over. The altitude advantage is long gone, and the Rockies' bats cool off considerably at sea level.

DarkHorse hasn't weighed in yet, but if yesterday's one-run game is any indication, this series is tighter than the standings suggest. Still, backing Colorado in a potential letdown spot feels like chasing bad money after good. Padres should handle business here.
