Yankees Look to Bounce Back Behind Schlittler's Nasty Stuff

The Yankees head back to the Trop just two days after getting blanked 1-0, and the DarkHorse desk is backing them to flip the script at -130. Why? Because Cam Schlittler is dealing. The kid's posted a 1.95 ERA with a 0.92 WHIP and is punching out more than 11 per nine. That's elite stuff, and it's a canyon-sized gap over Freddy Peralta's serviceable but unspectacular 3.25 ERA and pedestrian strikeout rate. When your starter holds a 1.30 ERA edge, you've got the foundation for value even in a hostile environment.

Sure, Tampa's riding a three-game win streak and owns an 8-1 home mark, but the Yankees took the season series 6-4 and boast the better lineup top to bottom. Ben Rice's .90 OPS towers over what the Rays can cobble together offensively, and Victor Mesa Jr.'s .82 mark leads a Tampa attack that's more scrappy than scary. Getting shut out stings, but that was against different arms. Schlittler's arsenal should carve through this lineup, and at implied 56.5 percent probability, laying -130 feels like the right side of variance. The Rays are tough at home, no question—but betting against this pitching mismatch feels like overthinking it.
