The Tigers flipped the script on Tampa Bay, taking this one 4-1 at Comerica Park and handing DarkHorse a loss on the Rays at -135. So much for Ian Seymour's supposed edge—Jackson Jobe and the Detroit bullpen made Tampa's vaunted .260 lineup look pedestrian all night, limiting the Rays to a single run while the Tigers scratched across four against Seymour and company.

We leaned hard on Seymour's strikeout stuff and control metrics, but baseball doesn't care about your spreadsheet when bats go cold. Tampa Bay entered riding a two-game win streak against Detroit and boasting superior offensive numbers across the board, yet they couldn't capitalize when it mattered. Jobe wasn't lights-out by any stretch, but he didn't have to be—Detroit's offense did just enough damage to make the difference, and suddenly that 3-1 season series edge for the Tigers looks less like noise and more like a genuine matchup problem for the Rays.

The loss snaps Tampa's modest momentum and extends Detroit's ability to play spoiler at home despite their ugly 2-5 record there. Sometimes the better roster on paper just doesn't show up. That's baseball, and that's why we cash tickets instead of essays. On to the next.
