Well, that's what happens when you lean too hard on paper advantages. The Mariners waltzed into Milwaukee and torched the Brewers 7-5, turning our Brewers -125 pick into expensive confetti. So much for Dustin May's "elite" 2.08 ERA carrying the day—Seattle's bats woke up exactly when we bet they'd stay dormant, piling up seven runs against a pitcher we pegged as untouchable. Logan Gilbert, the supposed weaker arm at 3.28 ERA, did enough to keep Seattle in front while Milwaukee's vaunted home offense (6.5 runs per game) couldn't manufacture the comeback.

The Mariners' recent offensive struggles? Ancient history. Their psyche after yesterday's 22-0 humiliation? Apparently made of titanium. Instead of rolling over, they came out swinging and never looked back. Milwaukee clawed to within two but couldn't complete the rally, leaving us holding a losing ticket and a hard lesson: sometimes the team that should be broken refuses to read the script. The 1.20 ERA edge we loved so much evaporated in the Seattle sunshine—or Milwaukee haze, depending on your perspective. Tough loss, but that's baseball. On to the next one.
