Cubs Look to Sweep Cardinals After Dismantling St. Louis Offense

The Cubs stroll into Busch Stadium on Tuesday riding high after embarrassing the Cardinals 7-3 in Monday's opener, and suddenly this I-55 rivalry feels decidedly one-sided. Chicago's bats came alive when it mattered most, plating seven runs against a St. Louis pitching staff that looked more Triple-A than playoff contender. The Cardinals' offense? Three measly runs won't cut it at home, especially when your division rival is smelling blood.

St. Louis finds itself in a familiar 2026 predicament: trying to salvage respectability after getting punched in the mouth. The problem is the Cubs have momentum, confidence, and apparently figured something out about Cardinals pitching. When you lose the series opener at home by four runs, the pressure to respond is immense—but pressure hasn't exactly brought out the best in this Cardinals squad lately.

Chicago will be looking to make it two straight, and frankly, why shouldn't they? They just proved they can score at will in Busch, and St. Louis showed zero ability to adjust. The Cardinals need to find some urgency fast, or this series could get ugly in a hurry. DarkHorse hasn't weighed in yet, but the Cubs certainly look like the side with all the answers right now.
