The Giants rolled into Petco Park and promptly put the Padres to sleep, cruising to a 4-1 victory that was never really in doubt. San Francisco's pitching staff put on a clinic, stifling a San Diego lineup that looked utterly lost at the plate all afternoon. When you're holding the Padres to a single run in their own building, you're doing something right.

The Giants manufactured just enough offense to make it comfortable, plating four runs while their arms did the heavy lifting. This wasn't some offensive explosion—it was textbook road baseball: throw strikes, play clean defense, and make the home team beat themselves. The Padres obliged, mustering almost nothing against San Francisco's staff.

Credit where it's due: the Giants came to work while San Diego looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. A three-run margin doesn't sound dominant until you realize the Padres were basically dead in the water after the middle innings. DarkHorse didn't publish a pick here, which is probably just as well—sometimes the smart money is no money. But if you had the Giants, you cashed easy. San Francisco takes the series opener and reminds everyone that pitching still wins ballgames, even in 2024.
