The Timbers walked into BMO Stadium and did exactly what they needed to do: survive LAFC's chaos, grind out a 1-1 draw, and cash our +1 ticket with room to spare. This one had all the hallmarks of a team living on borrowed time meeting a squad that knows how to stay compact on the road.

LAFC's absurd finishing luck — over ten goals above expected coming in — finally showed cracks. They peppered Portland early but couldn't find the clinical edge that's papered over their middling underlying numbers all season. When the hosts did break through, Portland didn't fold. The Timbers clawed back with a response goal that reflected their superior attacking output (1.85 goals per game) and kept LAFC's shaky defense honest.

The push was never in doubt. Portland's road discipline (1.88 conceded per away match) kept this tight, and LAFC's two-game skid proved more than a blip. Both teams were gassed from midweek fixtures, but Portland had the better legs down the stretch. The season series now sits 2-1-1 in Portland's favor, and the underlying story remains the same: LAFC is overachieving on fumes, and Portland has the quality to exploit it. Easy money on the spread.
