Well, that was grim. Austin FC managed the impressive feat of getting blanked 1-0 in Colorado while simultaneously torching an over 2.5 ticket that looked borderline automatic on paper. The Rapids squeezed out a single goal and then watched Austin's attack sputter like a flooded engine for ninety minutes.

DarkHorse's over call wasn't crazy—Austin had been hemorrhaging 3.11 goals per road game, and Colorado had shown they could light up the scoreboard at home with 2.33 goals per match. The defensive fragility on both sides screamed goals. Instead, we got a defensive slog that defied every trend in the book. Austin's road woes continued, but this time it was their toothless offense doing the damage, not their leaky backline getting shredded. They managed zero goals against a Colorado defense that had been coughing up 1.47 per game. Zero.

Credit where it's due: Colorado's defense actually showed up for once. But let's be honest—Austin looked lifeless going forward, completely incapable of capitalizing on the matchup advantages that existed. The over needed just one more goal from either side. Instead, bettors got a masterclass in variance kicking you square in the teeth. Sometimes the math checks out and the football doesn't. Brutal miss.
