Atlanta United FC did exactly what the numbers said they would, dispatching a woeful Sporting Kansas City side 2-1 at home and delivering a clean hit for DarkHorse backers on the moneyline. SKC's road misery continues—now 1-8 away from home—and frankly, it was never in doubt once Atlanta found their rhythm.

The hosts controlled proceedings from the opening whistle, translating that underlying quality edge into two goals that reflected their superior xG profile. Sporting managed a consolation strike, but their anemic attack—averaging barely half a goal per road game—was never going to mount a serious comeback. Atlanta's defensive structure held firm when it mattered, keeping SKC's limited threats at bay and protecting the lead down the stretch.

This result validates everything we flagged in the original analysis: Atlanta's 1.393 xGF per game against a Kansas City defense leaking 3.38 per away match was always going to be a mismatch. Add in SKC's fixture congestion and brutal travel schedule, and the -145 price was borderline generous. The draw risk at 22.1% stayed comfortably out of play, and Atlanta's recent home form (two straight wins) carried through.

Sometimes the math just works. Atlanta covered, DarkHorse hit, and Sporting's road woes roll on. Chalk it up and move forward.
