Spurs and Jazz Preseason Snoozefest Points to the Under

Nobody's confusing October 12th exhibition basketball with playoff intensity, and this Spurs-Jazz tilt screams rotation roulette more than genuine competition. San Antonio and Utah will trot out 15-20 players apiece, meaning your favorite starters get maybe 20 minutes before the third-stringers take over and brick open threes like it's their job—because, well, it kind of is.

The 227.5 total feels lifted straight from a regular-season card, which is the trap here. Preseason basketball is messy by design: timing's off, chemistry's nonexistent, and coaches care more about evaluating camp bodies than running crisp sets. Add in the day-to-day injury situations surrounding Lauri Markkanen, De'Aaron Fox, and Tobias Harris—all likely to see reduced run even if they dress—and you've got a recipe for disjointed possessions and empty trips.

DarkHorse likes the under 227.5 at moderate confidence, and it's hard to argue. Preseason shooting percentages consistently lag regular-season marks, and deep bench units don't exactly light up the scoreboard. Expect plenty of contested midrange bricks, experimental lineups that go nowhere, and conservative minutes for anyone who matters. This one's built for the under—just don't expect it to be pretty getting there.
