The Celtics welcome Charlotte to TD Garden for a Wednesday night exhibition that's all about roster evaluation, not offensive fireworks. Boston will trot out their usual preseason script: starters get 20-ish minutes to shake off rust, then it's a parade of two-way contracts and training camp hopefuls trying to impress Brad Stevens. The Hornets arrive even more shorthanded than your typical October roster, with Coby White, Kon Knueppel, and Grant Williams all day-to-day and unlikely to suit up. That's three rotation pieces sitting, which guts whatever offensive rhythm Charlotte might've hoped to build.

Here's the thing about preseason totals: books set them like it's April, but the reality is disjointed possessions, experimental lineups, and coaches who care more about defensive rotations than putting up points. Starters play half their normal minutes, benches run 15-20 deep, and offensive execution takes a backseat to evaluation. The 225.5 number assumes regular-season efficiency that simply won't show up when third-stringers are logging crunch-time minutes.

DarkHorse likes the under here at moderate confidence, and it's hard to argue. Preseason basketball is sloppy basketball, and sloppy basketball stays under. Fade the October scoring mirage.
