76ers-Nets Preseason: When Stars Rest, the Under Feasts

Thursday night in Brooklyn gives us exactly what October basketball is designed to deliver: glorified practice with scoreboards. The 76ers rolled into this week with a superteam roster featuring Embiid, LeBron, Maxey, and Jaylen Brown—none of whom played Monday, and all four carry day-to-day rest tags for this one. Translation: you're getting third-stringers auditioning for garbage-time minutes in February, not a playoff preview.
The Nets aren't much better off with two projected starters also day-to-day, meaning both benches will empty like a fire drill. Expect 15-20 bodies per side cycling through possessions that look like pickup ball at the Y. Starters who do suit up will log 18-25 minutes max before heading to the locker room for ice baths and Instagram stories.
The betting market hung 219.5 on this snoozefest, apparently forgetting that preseason offense is where spacing goes to die. Camp bodies jack threes they have no business taking. Second units run sets they learned yesterday. Rhythm is nonexistent. DarkHorse is backing the under with moderate confidence here, and it's hard to argue. When neither team cares about winning and half the rotation is fighting for two-way contracts, points come at a premium. Fade the fireworks.
