The Oilers are humming. Four straight wins, 5.0 goals per game, and a pristine 3-0 road record to start the season. Meanwhile, the Kings are still searching for their first win at 0-4, and frankly, it's not hard to see why. They're hemorrhaging goals at 4.25 per game, Darcy Kuemper looks lost in net with an .868 save percentage through three starts, and their offense is sputtering at just 2.5 goals per contest. This is a mismatch on paper.
Sure, Edmonton's goaltending hasn't been stellar either at 3.4 goals against, but when you're lighting the lamp five times a night, you can afford to be a little leaky. The Kings can't. They don't have the firepower to keep pace, and their defensive structure—or lack thereof—has been exposed repeatedly. LA needs to find answers fast, but this isn't the night they'll find them.
DarkHorse likes the Oilers moneyline at -125 with moderate confidence (3/5), and it's tough to argue. Edmonton has momentum, offensive depth, and the kind of road swagger that suggests they're not intimidated by Crypto.com Arena. Lay the short price and ride the hot hand. The Kings' misery continues.
