Panthers ride goalie mismatch into LA as Kings leak oil defensively

The Panthers roll into Crypto.com Arena on a back-to-back, which normally screams fade, but the goaltending chasm here is too wide to ignore. Jacob Markstrom has been vintage through two starts—.914 save percentage, 1.40 GAA—while Anton Forsberg has been a sieve at .800 and 4.77. That's not a typo. The Kings have surrendered 6.5 goals per game through two contests, and their offense isn't exactly lighting the lamp at four per night.

Florida may be tired, but they're not blind. They'll see the same leaky LA defense everyone else has exploited early this season. The market has this priced nearly even—52% implied probability on the Panthers—which feels like disrespect given the goaltending gap alone. Markstrom versus Forsberg isn't a debate; it's a mismatch.

Back-to-backs are tricky, sure, but when one team has a brick wall in net and the other is playing traffic cone hockey in their own zone, you take the discount. The Stable is riding Panthers ML at -120. The Kings need to figure out their defensive structure before they're worth backing against a team with competent goaltending. Fade LA until they prove otherwise.
