Penguins Look to Sweep Early Season Series in Buffalo

The Penguins roll into KeyBank Center riding high after a convincing 4-1 beatdown of these same Sabres just five days ago. Pittsburgh looked sharp in that one, controlling play and making Buffalo's offense disappear when it mattered. The Sabres managed just one goal despite getting a generous puck line from the books—DarkHorse's +1.5 recommendation went down in flames as the Pens cruised.

Now Buffalo gets the quick revenge spot at home, but here's the problem: nothing about that first meeting suggests they've got answers for what Pittsburgh is bringing right now. The Penguins are clicking early, their depth is producing, and they're defending with structure. Meanwhile, the Sabres looked lifeless offensively and couldn't generate the kind of sustained pressure needed to hang with a team playing this confidently.

Buffalo will lean on home ice and the desperation factor, but September hockey is funny—momentum matters more than venue sometimes. The Penguins have every reason to believe they can waltz in and take another two points. DarkHorse hasn't weighed in with a pick yet, but the recent head-to-head tells you everything about where the form guide sits. If you're backing the Sabres here, you better believe they've made serious adjustments in less than a week. Good luck with that.
