The Flyers head across the river to face the Devils on opening night, and this divisional clash should set the tone for what both clubs hope will be playoff-worthy campaigns. New Jersey enters with legitimate Stanley Cup aspirations after last season's deep run, banking on Jack Hughes and a revitalized defense corps to carry them through the brutal Metro Division gauntlet. The Devils' speed and transition game remain their calling card, and at home they've been particularly lethal getting out on the rush.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, is in that awkward middle ground—not quite rebuilding, not quite contending. They've got some young pieces worth watching, but their goaltending remains a question mark and their defensive structure can get shredded by elite transition teams. That's a problem when you're walking into Prudential Center against a Devils squad that thrives on chaos and odd-man rushes.

Opening night jitters are real, but New Jersey has the superior roster top-to-bottom and the home crowd advantage. The Flyers will need a Herculean goaltending performance to keep this close. Expect the Devils to flex their speed early and often, turning this into a track meet that favors their offensive firepower. Jersey should take care of business and send Philly back across the Hudson with an L.
