The Maple Leafs roll into Edmonton on Saturday night for what should be a track meet masquerading as a hockey game. Both clubs love to push the pace and neither defense corps is winning any Norris Trophies this season, so expect goals in bunches at Rogers Place.
Toronto's offensive firepower remains elite, but their road record has been shaky early in this campaign. The Leafs have struggled to lock down third periods away from Scotiabank Arena, and that's a dangerous habit when you're facing an Oilers squad that can score in waves. Edmonton's power play is absolutely lethal—when they get the man advantage, it's basically batting practice. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl continue to do unholy things to opposing defenses, and the supporting cast has chipped in more consistently than in years past.
The x-factor here is goaltending. Whichever netminder finds his rhythm first will likely steal two points for his team. Edmonton holds home-ice advantage and the momentum of a couple recent wins, while Toronto needs to prove they can tighten up defensively in hostile buildings. This one could easily go over the total, and if you're betting the side, the Oilers' home dominance makes them tough to fade. DarkHorse hasn't weighed in yet, but this screams high-event hockey.
