Royals Take Another Crack at Fenway After Squeezing Out Yesterday's Win

The Royals just nicked the Red Sox 3-2 last night at Fenway, and they're right back at it Saturday with Randy Dobnak on the bump against Ranger Suarez. If you're looking for a reason to lean Kansas City again, Dobnak's 2.54 ERA gives you nearly a full run of breathing room over Suarez's 3.44 mark—that's not nothing in a series that's already shown us tight margins. Boston's lineup hasn't exactly been lighting up scoreboards in bunches lately, and when you're catching plus-money as a road dog with the pitching edge, the math starts to make sense.

DarkHorse likes the Royals +1.5 here, banking on that starter gap and the fact that Boston doesn't check the boxes you need to lay a run and a half. They're not a heavy enough favorite, and they haven't been winning by two-plus consistently enough to justify giving up the cushion. Kansas City's already proven they can hang in this park—yesterday was gritty, not pretty, but a win's a win. If Dobnak keeps the ball down and the Royals scratch across three or four, that extra run and a half could be the difference between cashing and watching Boston sneak a one-run cover. Take the value, ride the better arm.
