The Padres just hung nine runs on Arizona last night and they're coming right back for more. San Diego sends Casey Mize to the bump, and the gap between him and Mitch Bratt might as well be the Grand Canyon. Mize is dealing with a 2.70 ERA and 0.99 WHIP—the kind of control that makes lineups look silly. Bratt? A bloated 5.23 ERA and 1.84 WHIP that screams "batting practice." This is the largest starting pitcher advantage DarkHorse has charted in recent memory, a 2.53 ERA chasm that should have Arizona fans reaching for the remote early.

The Padres are 8-2 in their last ten with lockdown run prevention at just 3.5 runs allowed per game. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are dragging after back-to-back games and just got boat-raced 9-4 yesterday. Fatigue plus a leaky starter is a brutal combo at home.

DarkHorse likes Padres ML at -116. The market is giving San Diego away at 53.7% implied probability when the pitching mismatch alone justifies closer to 58% or better. Yes, we whiffed on Arizona yesterday at -134, but that was before we saw Bratt's name on the card. This is a clear value grab with the hotter team and the far superior arm. Ride the Friars.
