Austin FC limp into Banc of California Stadium with nothing to write home about — LAFC should lock them down

Austin FC rolls into Los Angeles dragging the league's second-worst defense (2.1 xGA per game) into a fortress where LAFC has allowed just 0.57 goals per home match over their last seven. The Black & Gold's defensive metrics (1.46 xGA/game) dwarf Austin's feeble attack (1.147 xGF/game), and when these sides met back in March, they sleepwalked to a scoreless draw that nobody wants to remember.
Here's the rub: LAFC is already underperforming their expected goals by 6.6 this season, and now they're without Jeremy Ebobisse up top. Austin averages a pathetic 0.86 goals on the road. For this total to sail over 3.0, both teams need to find the net — and nothing in the data suggests that's happening. LAFC's home defense is suffocating. Austin's road offense is anemic. The market is nearly split (48.5% over), but sharps know better.
DarkHorse likes the under 3.0 here with moderate confidence. This has all the makings of another cagey, low-event slog. LAFC will control possession, Austin will bunker and hope to nick something on the counter, and we'll be checking our watches by the 70th minute. Bet accordingly — this one stays under the number.
