Panthers limp into Anaheim missing the pieces that matter most

The Panthers roll into Honda Center on Sunday night without Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand, which is a polite way of saying they're missing their entire offensive identity. Florida has managed just two goals per game through two contests, and now they're expected to lay -135 on the road against a Ducks squad playing its second night of a back-to-back? The market is begging you to fade Anaheim's tired legs, but the puck line at +1.5 is built exactly for this scenario.

Jacob Markstrom's perfect save percentage is a one-game mirage, not a moat. Lukas Dostal at .900 is perfectly adequate, especially when the opposition is this offensively compromised. Florida doesn't have the firepower to blow anyone out right now, road or otherwise, and Anaheim gets the comfort of home ice to offset the fatigue factor. The Panthers might grind out a one-goal decision, but covering -1.5 without their top two centers? That's a bridge too far.

DarkHorse likes Ducks +1.5 at moderate confidence. The cushion absorbs the back-to-back risk, and Florida's depleted forward group simply isn't built to run up the score. Take the points and let the Panthers prove they can win convincingly without their stars.
