Oilers Look to Flip Script After Wild 6-5 Loss in Vancouver

Two nights after dropping a track-meet special 6-5 in Vancouver, the Oilers roll back into Rogers Arena looking to salvage some pride in this early-season Pacific Division dust-up. That Tuesday night affair had everything—eleven goals, probably some questionable goaltending, and the Canucks stealing two points on home ice while Edmonton's high-octane offense came up just short.

Here's the thing: when you're trading chances like it's a beer-league game and still losing, something's gotta tighten up. The Oilers can't afford to get into another track meet and expect a different result. Vancouver's clearly comfortable playing fast and loose at home, and they just proved they can outscore Connor McDavid and company when the game turns into a parade to the net.

Edmonton needs to find some defensive structure, or at least hope their goalie shows up with a few more saves in his back pocket. The Canucks, meanwhile, have all the confidence in the world after lighting the lamp six times against a supposedly elite opponent. They'll be hunting for the season-series sweep right out of the gate.

Expect another high-event game, but the question is whether the Oilers learned anything from getting torched 48 hours ago. Early money says they didn't.
